Danny Yuxing Huang is an Assistant Professor at New York University. He is broadly interested in understanding and protecting the security and privacy of smart home IoT devices. He leads the development of the Smart Home IoT Inspector, an open-source tool that has helped thousands of consumers identify potential security and privacy risks in their smart homes. Huang’s work was covered by the popular press, including the New York Times, Washington Post, and National Public Radio.
Fellowship Project: Home Data Inspector
In 2022, CR awarded Danny Huang an Innovation Lab Fellowship to help build Home Data Inspector, an open source desktop application that enables consumers to uncover which devices in their homes connect to the internet, monitor the locations that home devices are sharing data with and identify potential security and privacy violations.
