Community voting for SXSW 2024 is in full swing through August 20
The annual South by Southwest (SXSW) conference has opened its doors to the power of community voice through its SXSW Panel Picker. This time around, CR is in the running to host a panel for SXSW 2024, and we’re calling on you to lend your support!
Introducing “Fixing Broken Algorithms to Stop Digital Redlining” – a panel that explores how mortgage lending discrimination is caused by automated systems and how we might fix broken algorithms to improve consumer lending outcomes.
Homeownership is the fastest way to accumulate wealth, but banks are 14% more likely to reject minority borrowers than those from privileged groups in mortgage applications. Redlining has historically kept generations of people of color out of the mortgage market, even 55 years after the Fair Housing Act intended to end housing discrimination. Artificial intelligence can help close the homeownership gap if used responsibly. This panel will explore ways to fix broken algorithms and improve consumer lending outcomes while providing guardrails to ensure AI does not perpetuate discrimination.
Your participation is the key! Community voting is in full swing through August 20. Cast your vote for our panel HERE and help spread the word. Together, we can make sure this important topic gets the spotlight it deserves at SXSW 2024.
